still no sound using the codec

Hello,

I've searched the tickets to see if there has been a solution to my problem but I couldn't find anything. I have downloaded the latest version of the codec, copied all the files to the required folders, I restarted quicktime (ver. 7.5 - 149.5), I even restarted OS (10.5.4). I also checked with spotlight for any ac3 codecs from other plugins but I found nothing. I still can't hear the sound. I read somewhere that it's advised to delete Divx for Mac as well but then I'm wondering: if I delete Divx, then I won't be able to watch the movie (I might have a sound, but I won't have video). I would appreciate for any help. I've switched to a Mac 2 weeks ago so please don't assume too much knowledge from my side ;) Thanks in advance for any help.

Try removing any Divx components installed in Quicktime and install Perian instead. Report back here if the issue persists.

works now! thanks a lot! so is it enough in the future (in case of OS reinstallation or something) to just install perian?

Yeah. Perian also includes A52Codec so that is all you need.
