Can not get audio playback with AVI files

Description

Hi, I can't get my .avi files to get any audio through my quicktime player. I downloaded the audio codec after getting it recommended through the Xvid app. I installed the A52Codec.component into the library/audio/Plug-ins/Components and the AC3MovieImport.component into the library/QuickTime directory as well. I've tried both my local user and the System Library directories. Neither seems to work.

I'm using a MBP 15.4' using OS 10.5.2. I'm also using Quicktime 7.5. I can get video fine but no audio. I was looking at bug #20, I thought maybe they were having the same kind of problem, you recommended trying to get more info by trying to open the file through the Quickplay. I don't see anything there related to audio.

I have gotten quicktime to play before, but this is the first time I've tried to get an .avi to work.

Try removing any Xvid components installed in Quicktime and install Perian instead. Report back here if the issue persists.
