passthrough attempt doesn't fail without digital output

Description

AC3 passtrough works fine with a digital reciever attached to my Imac alu 20". When I unplug the reciever, it sounds like the AC3 is passed trough my internal speakers. This also happens when I restart quicktime/frontrow. This is a problem for me becouse I only use the digital reciever for watching movies in the next door room using a long cable. If I want to watch ac3 content on the mac, I'd like to use a headphones or just the internal speakers. At the moment this can only be done by editting the plist file.

There is no way to detect this easily in a codec.

Also, look at the defaults command in the terminal
